Data Recovery begins Feb 26, 2010
Ok.. now i know i cannot get onto the drive it is time to start prossesing the laptop disk that had the data on it the first point. and I am hoping that as the disk was quite full, before we upgraded it to windows 7, so iam now running a fee software that looks for lost files http://www.pcinspector.de/default.htm?language=1, but this only returned parts of images so its over to http://www.pcinspector.de/SmartRecovery/info.htm?language=1. This one understands jpgs. and I have used it many times on camers etc. but this might take a while as disk is 146Gb and what i want is at the end of the disk.

Server Rebuild Feb 25, 2010
Got a new drive a WD 1tb. so i could get the server running I ESXi reinstaled (only ver 3.5 as ver 4 requires a 64bit server). the actual prosess was very simple as I had screen printouts of all the settings from the server and a complete topolagy diagram. and the rebuild only took about 2hrs. I have now left it over night pushing the data back from the backup server (via rsync). So I can go overwhat might be mising. and the priorty/nead/cost, so i can see if the £550 cost for DR is worth it, or even needed.
Lets wait and see

Argueing with Seagate Feb 23, 2010
Rang, emailed, live chated with Seagate to see if they would waranty the data recovery as this drive is suffering form the typical 0Gb (0LBA) error, but they said as this is not the problem firmware they will not cover costs (but hang on its the same problem).
So I found every possible forum etc. and posted my problem stating that even though apparantly mine has good firmware it still FAILED, and by doning this got to top of google (cool), so as seagate are not very helpfull I will wait and see the result of the forum posts. and meanwhile sort out another DIFFERENT brand drive to get up and running as this might take a while and i need to get this site back up and running and acces my emails.
On a side note i would like to thank EasyDNS as thier support team have work with me and helped me gain access to my account repoint dns, emails etc, infact i had about 10 emails from them before I even got the first reply from seagate.
